About us
how it all began
Our Story
The You First Foundation was formed to honor a beloved friend, Wendy Kwan, who died at age 34 from a brain aneurysm. At the time of her death, Wendy was carrying her second child, who was delivered through emergency surgery. Out of love for Wendy and her family, the employees of First Service Credit Union came together to form this foundation with hope that the various efforts and money raised will help ease the burdens of families like Wendy’s when the traumatic and unexpected occur.
what we do
Living Out Our Mission
We are passionate about helping individuals and families undergoing traumatic medical events, but know that nothing can benefit them more than furthering research and discovering cures. We hope with our support for further research, people with brain injuries and blood-related cancers can someday fully recover.
We partnered with multiple hospitals and charities to unite our researching efforts. Join us in our financial support for the work being done through Nexus Health Systems, which includes Healthbridge Children’s Hospital and Touchstone Neurorecovery Center, Chariots for Children, and Reining Strength.
Your contributions to You First Foundation also directly benefit children whose lives have been directly affected by a traumatic medical emergency.
OUR CAUSES
What Makes Us Different
Our purpose is to support neurointensive care and neurorecovery centers to further their research on brain injuries and recovery solutions. The You First Foundation also helps support the families of brain injury victims by providing scholarships to children whose lives have been adversely affected by traumatic medical events.
You First Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charity.
